Mardi Gras virtual concert series to stream shows from iconic Frenchman Street venues

Despite new restrictions going into effect starting Mardi Gras weekend, music fans can still watch musicians perform at popular Frenchman Street venues through a series of virtual concerts.

StageIt, a live-streaming concert platform, will launch a virtual “Mardi Gras extravaganza” with music performances from New Orleans bands from Wednesday, Feb. 10 to Mardi Gras day.

The Iceman Special and Soul Brass Band are among the bands scheduled to perform from iconic music nightclubs d.b.a. and Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro. Revelers can celebrate all week long and experience the magic of the Krewe of House Floats.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced a series of new restrictions from Friday, Feb. 12 through Mardi Gras day to control crowds and prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Those new restrictions will shut down all bars for indoor and outdoor dining citywide during the period. Other restrictions will ban liquor sales in the French Quarter and enforce closures on Decatur, Bourbon, and Frenchmen Streets.
