From curbside brunch to mimosa kits, several restaurants around the New Orleans area put on their creative caps to help families celebrate Mother’s Day at home.
Many restaurants are stepping up efforts with special takeout brunch, extravagant family-style dinners and even bottles of bubbly on one of the biggest dining days of the year.
Even with dining rooms closed and stay-at-home orders in place, families can still map out a thoughtful DIY Mother’s Day. This year, you can even listen to Irma Thomas while you brunch at home, thanks to WWOZ.
We rounded up a list of restaurants offering Mother’s Day specials to help let mom know she’s appreciated on her big day.

Dooky Chase’s Restaurant
Dooky Chase’s Restaurant says it will resume takeout again for Mother’s Day. The iconic restaurant will prepare a traditional Creole Mother’s Day brunch priced at $150 for pick-up on Saturday, May 9. Dooky Chase’s brunch feast for four includes Creole gumbo, shrimp and grits, eggs New Orleans, roasted turkey, cornbread dressing, glazed ham, Creole string beans, sweet potatoes and peach cobbler. Ralph’s on the Park
Mid-City restaurant Ralph’s on the Park will help you treat mom to a special Mother’s Day meal. The meal includes starters, entrees, sides, desserts and a bottle of bubbly — serving two for $70. The restaurant says these orders are packaged cold for convenience to re-heat at home. As a special touch, there’s also an option to add on a wildflower bouquet for an additional charge. Order online for pick-up on Sunday, May 10 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Galatoire’s Restaurant announces it will serve an a la carte menu for a grab ‘n go Mother’s Day lunch or dinner at home. The slate of offerings allow patrons to customize your own meal to-go. Galatiore’s Mother’s Day menu includes appetizers, soups and salads, entrees, side dishes, desserts and a mimosa kit — all serving three to four people. Some of the dishes include Oysters Rockefeller, duck and andouille gumbo, seafood stuffed pompano, seafood eggplant casserole and Chantilly cake. Guests can also choose a bottle of wine upon pick-up, with some offerings discounted. Hot items are packaged to bake at home. Cold items are ready to eat and serve. In Metairie, Chef Andrea will do the cooking for Mother’s Day. Andrea’s Restaurant offers a Mother’s Day feast with options including family-style favorites or a three-course meal. Options for family-style dishes, serving four, include eggplant crab cakes, crawfish bisque, whole pan lasagna, roast prime rib au jus, Tiramisu and bread pudding. There’s also an individual three-course meal for $39. Call 504-834-8583 to place your order for curbside or delivery. Outdoor seating will be available from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Mid-City favorite Toups’ Meatery will offer specialty a la carte items for Mother’s Day. Offerings include whole chicken with confit potatoes, peppers and onions ($28), Sweet Potato Casserole ($15), spring pea salad with shallots and mint ($12), Lyonnaise Salad ($12) and a whole pineapple upside down cake ($30). With exception to the salads, serving sizes are family-style and vary per dish. Orders must be placed in advance by Thursday, May 7 at 9 p.m. by calling 504-252-4999.
This Mid-City neighborhood favorite created a Mother’s Day at home menu featuring family meals and a la carte items. Options include herbed pork tenderloin, smothered chicken and braised short ribs. Katie’s Restaurant will also offer frose or peach freeze by the gallon and desserts. Call 504-488-6582 to order by Thursday, May 7 at 4 p.m. for delivery or curbside pickup on Saturday or Sunday morning.
Central Business District wine pub Copper Vine offers a $50 Mother’s Day gift set to help you toast to mom. Sets include a bottle of rose’, red or white wine; a small bouquet of flowers and a $25 Copper Vine gift card. There’s also a Mother’s Day brunch special featuring baked pain perdu and French toast with crème brulee’ custard and blueberries — serving four for $45 ($36 with code CVEAT20). The Pelican Club
French Quarter restaurant The Pelican Club will offer a Mother’s Day brunch takeout menu after recently re-opening for curbside service this month. Most of the options include family-style portions like panned Gulf fish with crabmeat, slow roasted duck a l’orange and crab ravigote, among others. Finish off your brunch with a mimosa kit or bellini kit. Call to pre-order at 504-523-1504 until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9. Guests can schedule a pick-up time between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 10.
James Beard award-winning chef Nina Compton celebrates moms this year at Compere Lapin. Special Mother’s Day brunch kits includes an assortment of house-made pastries, a shrimp cocktail, deviled eggs, smoked fish dip, and granola. Each kit serves two for $65. Diners must pre-order through Open Table at least 48 hrs in advance between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. All orders must be placed by Friday, May 8th at 4 p.m. Tropical mimosas and bloody marys sold separately.
Diners can grab a Mother’s Day meal kit from recent 2020 James Beard-nominees Kristen Essig and Michael Stoltzfus. Their restaurant, Thalia, will offer two meal kits — one for brunch and one for dinner. Thalia’s brunch option includes beef cheek grillades and grits as the entree, while the dinner entree is fish en pappillotte with Louisiana squash and heirloom tomatoes. All items are prepared for re-heating to serve two or four. Order via e-mail at Thaliarestaurant@gmail.com or online here before 3 p.m. on Friday. Pickups will be scheduled on Saturday, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Thalia.
This Central Business District brunch spot on Camp Street will offer a curbside, family-style Mother’s Day brunch for two, four, five or eight people. Platters from Red Gravy include raspberry white chocolate scones, assorted fruits and cheeses, oven roasted potatoes, and a choice of quiches (crawfish, bacon Swiss or Florentine). Pricing starts at $30 for each two-person order, with a complimentary fresh flower bud for mom. Pre-order by calling 504-561-8844 or messaging the restaurant’s Facebook page.
The English Tea Room
Just in time for Mother’s Day, the English Tea Room in Covington dishes out pre-packaged scones for a treat at home. You can pick-up frozen scones to bake right in your oven or purchase mixed flavors of the day already baked at the teahouse. Frozen scone flavors available in Lemon Lavender, Vanilla, Cheddar Cheese with Herbs, Cranberry Orange and White Chocolate Cherry Almond, with one flavor per dozen. Call ahead to place orders at 985-898-3988. Curbside pickup is 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The English Tea Room will close at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
Blue Oak BBQ
This popular Mid-City barbecue joint will also have a meal up for grabs on Mother’s Day. Blue Oak BBQ will offer smoked garlic crusted prime rib, with au jus & horseradish cream, served alongside creamed spinach and mashed potatoes for $35 per person. Orders can be placed online and by phone at 504-822-2583, Ext. 2 for pick up and delivery.
GW Fins wants to help you treat your favorite lady to an unforgettable meal. Celebrate Mother’s Day with the restaurant’s “Fit for a Queen” dining package for two at $110. The three-course meal includes appetizers of lobster dumplings and barbecue shrimp; entrees of Scalibut wagyu beef short rib, and steamed Maine lobster; and chocolate mousse and Ponchatoula strawberry shortcake for dessert. GW Fins also throws in biscuit mix, and you can choose from a gift-wrapped bottle of wine or cookbook. Call 504-581-3467 to order by 7 p.m. on Friday, May 8. Orders can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on May 10.
Plan a Mother’s Day at home with items from La Boulangerie. Enjoy cakes (double chocolate, red velvet, carrot cake, strawberry shortcake and yellow cake with chocolate frosting), pastries, croissants, a special crawfish quiche, bacon, and more. Top it off with ice cream, a bottle of prosecco, and a quart of fresh squeezed orange juice, or pick a Mother’s Day Brunch in a Box option including everything you need for a brunch at home or at the park.
Palmettos on the Bayou
In Slidell, Palmettos on the Bayou serves up a Mother’s Day brunch. Guests can get the Sunday brunch plate with a veggie frittata, creme brulee French toast, smoked gouda grits, potatoes, bacon and a croissant for $14.95. You can also grab shrimp Dianne as family-style meal for $55.95 or just the individual plate option. The restaurant’s outside patio and yard is also open for socially distanced dining.
Here’s an idea for Mother’s Day: Plan an outdoor picnic for mom at the park — socially distanced, of course. Cochon Butcher picnic ideas include items like roast chicken salad piccata, focaccia, a charcuterie board package and dessert, or you might prefer Gianna’s fresh pasta, Bill Ryan’s pork, or a combo of specialty meat sandwiches, and a bottle of rosé.
Copeland’s of New Orleans
Several Mother’s Day specials are available for pre-order at Copeland’s locations. Guests can order a prime rib dinner for four to six people ($125), along with other family-style meals with options like grillades and grits and chicken fais do do. Other menu items include Copeland’s signature New York cheesecake, biscuits and a mimosa kit. Pre-order online by Friday for Mother’s Day pick-up.
Liz’s Where Y’at Diner
Are you looking for a great finishing touch to cap off your brunch? Liz’s Where Y’at Diner in Mandeville is serving up frozen mimosas, dubbed “Fromosas.” The popular Mandeville eatery has been showcasing the cool treat on its Facebook page, and it looks pretty delicious. Pick up a 20 oz. for $8, or you can get it by the gallon for $40.
Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux
Participating Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux locations celebrate moms this Mother’s Day with Mom-osa Kits. Moms can kick back and toast with this treat that includes LaMarca Prosecco (750mL bottle), fresh orange juice and berries, for $20. As an added bonus, Guests can request special coloring and activity sheet to help keep the kids busy. Guests can place their order through call-in or curbside.
From Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10, guests can call in advance to place an order for several meals just in time for Mother’s Day. The Mahi & Shrimp Family Bundle ($49.90) feeds up to five people and includes a choice of House or Caesar Salad, served with family-style sides including Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Seasonal Veggies, Fresh Bread with Pesto and a Dessert Duo of Classic Cheesecake slices and Cookies. Guests can also bring the sea to their table with a variety of other Family Bundles featuring grilled salmon, chicken or tacos.
Carrabba’s Italian Grill
Enjoy classic Italian recipes from Carrabba’s Italian Grill including dishes like Fettuccine Weesie (created in honor of founder Johnny Carrabba’s sister), Lasagne (created by Johnny Carrabba’s grandmother) and Polla Rosa Maria (named after Johnny Carrabba’s mother Rose). Guests can also take advantage of Family Bundles that serves up to 5 people starting at $39.99 complete with choice of entrée like Lasagne, Chicken Parmesean or an assortment of pasta bundles served with Fresh Bread and choice of salad. From Wednesday, May 6 through Tuesday, May 12, moms can enjoy a Filet & Lobster Tail or a Prime Rib and Crab Cake Dinner. Guests can also add a Lobster Tail to any entrée for $9.99 or a crab cake for $6.
