Smithsonian Magazine’s Museum Day offers free admission at a dozen New Orleans museums on Saturday, Sept. 21.
The annual, one-day event allows people free access to participating museums and cultural institutions around the country. Anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket can get free general admission for up to two people.

According to the website, this year, Museum Day celebrates the Smithsonian Year of Music, an institution-wide initiative celebrating the Smithsonian’s vast musical collections and resources through 365 days of music-related programming.
If you ever wanted to check out one of the area’s popular and acclaimed museums, here’s a good day to mark on your calendar.
The promotion includes a dozen museums in New Orleans and a total of 29 participating museums in Louisiana.
In order to receive the offer, visit the Smithsonian’s website and find a participating museum you would like to visit. Download your ticket and present it at the museum.
The Museum Day ticket provides free general admission for two people. You can only download one ticket per e-mail address.
