Neo-soul icon Maxwell bringing tour to New Orleans in 2022

Grammy Award-winning R&B artist Maxwell returns with new music and announces a new tour in 2022. The neo-soul icon will stop in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center on March 5.

The 25-date “NIGHT 2022 Tour” will support Maxwell’s upcoming album, “blacksummers’NIGHT,” set to release next spring. The new album marks the third installment in the singer’s trilogy that began with 2009’s BLACKsummers’night and continued with blackSUMMERS’night in 2016.

R&B singers Anthony Hamilton and Joe have been confirmed as support.

Ticket presale starts on Nov. 22. Tickets go on-sale to the public on Nov. 29.

Along with the tour announcement, Maxwell announces the release of his new single “Off.”

“From announcing a new partnership with BMG for my label Musze to receiving the Legend Award at the upcoming 2021 Soul Train Awards, I couldn’t be more excited to share this new single with loved ones offering a glimpse into NIGHT…” Maxwell said in a release.

As one of the leading voices of the ’90s neo-soul movement, Maxwell released five studio albums over the past two decades, yielding hits such as “Pretty Wings,” “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder),” “Fortunate” and “Lifetime.”

Maxwell will also receive the “Legend” Award at the upcoming 2021 Soul Train Awards.
