A new spot for brunch and bottomless mimosas opens alongside a welcoming outdoor courtyard in the Lower Garden District.
Birdy’s Behind the Bower is the latest restaurant to open at the bustling Framework development at 1320 Magazine Street.
According to a spokesperson, the new breakfast, brunch and lunch spot serves “Southern-inspired, locally-sourced American cuisine.”
The restaurant is the newest concept for Latter Hospitality, which also owns the nearby Claret Wine & Cocktail Bar and the Bower.
Chef Marcus Woodham is the executive chef of Birdy’s in addition to holding that position at The Bower and Claret Wine & Cocktail Bar. Marie Guevara, the Chef de Cuisine, heads to Birdy’s from the now-closed downtown deli Aglio where she was chef/owner. The two have partnered to create a menu that includes house-made pastries, healthier items such as tropical smoothies, salads, and bowls and classic breakfast items including French toast and a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.
Birdy’s says it partners with Sugar Roots Farms in New Orleans to source fresh, local ingredients for dishes that range from comforting, house-made breakfast staples to lighter, health-conscious fare.
The space was designed to be inviting and playful with a chic and light interior and a combined tented patio that is shared with Claret and The Bower. Guests can grab and go, or linger and enjoy an afternoon filled with bottomless mimosas.
Birdy’s Behind the Bower opens for breakfast Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Lunch is served Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and brunch is served Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
