Owner Skye LaTorre, a sommelier with more than 20 years in the business, pours her love for wine into an intimate setting she calls “comfortable, relaxed and approachable.”

“I just kind of wanted everybody to feel like they’re allowed to be here,” LaTorre said. “That was a big deal.”

Certainly, having an extensive wine list helps when the goal is pleasing palates ranging from casual drinkers to savvy connoisseurs. To start, Pluck features 250 wines, with a list of nearly 20 wines-by-the-glass and more than a dozen pages of bottled wines. There’s also a small selection of beer.

LaTorre’s emphasis on flexibility even extends to the wine bar’s layout. The cozy space, with a Parisian flair, functions to give options for different guest experiences, including a lounge space with a sofa area and small booths, a communal table for groups, a bar area, a small dining room space and an outdoor patio.

In a full-circle moment, LaTorre returns to New Orleans, where she began her career at Emeril’s Delmonico. Before bringing her expertise to Pluck, LaTorre worked in wine-focused restaurants in San Francisco and New York City.

Executive chef Heathcliffe Hailey, former chef at the now-shuttered Mimi’s in the Marigny, brings his signature late-night service to Pluck. Heathcliffe heads up a menu of snacks, charcuterie boards, small plates and sandwiches — all perfect for wine pairings.

With items like goat cheese croquettes and smoked yellowfin tuna on crostini, guests who frequented the late-night tapas bar in the Marigny might feel a similar essence spill over here. The menu also features “wine-loving dishes” like grilled lamb chops, roasted quail and wild mushrooms with garlic and sauce verdejo.
