New Orleans art museums temporarily close due to coronavirus concerns

The New Orleans Museum of Art, Ogden Museum and the Contemporary Art Center are temporarily closing amid coronavirus concerns around the city.

The closures will begin starting Monday, March 16.

The three museums made the decision as a joint effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus.

The New Orleans Museum of Art will offer different ways to engage with the museum virtually. Check out the options below:

A self-guided tour of the museum and the Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is accessible from smartphones. All you have to do is text NOMA to 555888 or search for the NOMA app through your device’s app store.

Art lovers can take a virtual tour of the galleries and permanent collection here.

Curator-led gallery talks, artist perspectives, and panel discussions are available on NOMA’s YouTube channel.
