New Orleans City Park: Take a virtual ride on the Ferris wheel

Kick back on your couch and take a soothing virtual ride on City Park's Ferris wheel.

A view from the top of City Park’s Ferris wheel offers a unique perspective of New Orleans. Riders can soar above the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park and even see distant views of the city’s skyline.

The 55 foot-tall attraction gives a feeling like you’re sitting on top of the world — a feeling many could use for a moment of escape from the challenging coronavirus crisis.

Much like the Ladybug roller coaster and the famous antique carousel, the Ferris wheel is an iconic attraction loved by park-goers.

After Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans City Park debuted a new Ferris wheel to replace the previous version damaged by the storm.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the ride is one of many attractions currently shut down inside the park.

However, you can kick back on your couch and take a soothing virtual ride on City Park’s Ferris wheel.

Let your troubles momentarily melt away, as you soar above the amusement park.

Of course, this won’t be the same experience like actually visiting City Park. Hopefully, the point-of-view experience will serve as a welcome distraction while families are social distancing at home.

Even with facilities shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 1,300-acre park has been buzzing with activity from passive recreation.

However, City Park now faces big financial trouble due to loss of revenue from the shutdown.

New Orleans City Park officials say they are accepting donations to help fund park operations. For more information about New Orleans City Park, visit the website.
