New Orleans Pelicans star Demarcus Cousins to host ‘Boogie’s Comedy Slam’ at the Saenger Theatre

New Orleans Pelicans star DeMarcus Cousins will host “Boogie’s Comedy Slam,” bringing a roster of all-star comedians to the Saenger Theatre on Jan. 27.

Boogie’s Comedy Slam will feature a lineup of the industry’s biggest comedians including Rickey Smiley, Red Grant, Tony Roberts, Robert Powell, DC Young Fly, HaHa Davis and other special surprise guests. These popular comedians have been featured in stand-up comedy shows like HBO Def Comedy Jam, BET Comic View and MTV’s Wild’N Out.

While Cousins is most known for dominating the basketball court, he is also a stand-up comedy junkie.

“When I’m not at the gym, I’m pretty much a home body, always watching comedy shows and stand-up comedy specials. So I brought together some of my all-time favorite comedians to come out to Nola and put on a once in lifetime show. We had a huge response to last year’s event in Sacramento and just going to keep it going. I think it’s going to be something fun for everybody while also benefiting the city,” Cousins said according to a statement in a press release.

This will be the second year Cousins hosts his comedy slam. The first event was in January 2017 at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento, Calif.
