New Rooftop Bar Opens at the Frenchmen Hotel

Locals can now set their sights on a new rooftop bar in New Orleans. The Frenchman Hotel will host a grand opening party on Thursday, Sept. 28 to show off its new rooftop bar.

The grand opening party, which kicks off at 7 p.m., will feature handcrafted cocktails, gourmet tacos and soulful music by local band, the Allie Porter Trio. Hotel representatives say a film crew will also be present at the event.

The boutique hotel, located at 417 Frenchman Street, launched a soft opening of its rooftop a few weeks ago on Wednesdays through Sundays, with a 5 p.m. to midnight schedule.

General manager Mark Allain says the rooftop bar will soon expand those days and hours to seven days a week from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Food is currently available for purchase via pop-up restaurants only on Fridays, but Allain says future plans are to offer food options multiple days of the week. The bar also hosts a happy hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. featuring $2.50 domestics, $4.00 wines, and $5.00 double wells.

Allain describes the second-story rooftop as a “nice, little rooftop hideaway with a Bohemian feel.” He also boasts scenic views of the Mississippi River and Crescent Park.

One should note that the hotel does not have an elevator, so rooftop access is by stairs only.

The Frenchman Hotel also invites locals to enjoy their pool weekdays for only $5.
