NOLA ChristmasFest 2019: Nightly snowfall, holiday tavern for adults among new attractions

NOLA ChristmasFest adds to the magic of the holidays with new attractions for both kids and adults this year. The holiday festival features nearly 350,000 square feet of indoor entertainment at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center from Dec. 20 to Dec. 31.

New this year, the fest will dazzle visitors with a nightly snowfall every evening at 6:50 p.m. over the ice skating rink.

For adults 21 and older, a new holiday-themed bar called the Tinsel Terrace Tavern offers a magical escape from the holiday “hustle and bustle” for adults to enjoy a winter-themed specialty cocktail or two while overlooking the indoor ice rink.

Also making a debut this year, a Skating with Santa event will give children a one-of-a-kind experience to skate with Santa Claus and his friends from the North Pole before the doors open to the general public on Dec. 21. Donuts, coffee and hot cocoa will also be served, but a separate ticket purchase will be required for this featured event.

Organizers for the event also added three new bounce houses to the Tiny Tot Zone and a second giant, 15-foot ice slide that has been a fan favorite from previous years.
