The NOLA Mac n’ Cheese Fest will feature more than a dozen vendors and headliner Robin Barnes, among other local entertainment. The third-annual fests returns to Armstrong Park from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 12.
Festival organizers announced the full slate of food vendors and the music lineup along with event details, according to a release.
Some of the vendors include local favorites Dirty Dishes, Frey Smoked Meats Co. and The Big Cheezy.
One new addition this year is a kid’s zone — a unified play area presented by the Special Olympics of Louisiana. Festival organizers say a portion of this year’s profits will also benefit that organization.
In addition to awarding the coveted Macaroni Trophy for the “Best Mac n’ Cheese in New Orleans” contest, the festival will also host a Mac n’ Cheese Eating Contest to earn the coveted title of, “NOLA’s Biggest Mac n’ Cheese Fan.” Those interested in participating in the contest must enter in advance at the festival website.
The NOLA Mac n’ Cheese Fest dedicates this year’s event to festival co-founder, Kent Broussard, who passed away earlier this year.
“Kent was a joy to all who met him and the powerhouse leading the festival team,” the release said.
