The parade will roll through the streets of Norco with the theme “Norco Noel: Santa celebrates our local sports teams.”

Santa will arrive by helicopter to begin the parade, landing on the Mississippi River levee near Apple Street and River Road at approximately 1:30 p.m.

More than 70 participants will hit the route including floats, including floats, marching groups, marching bands, dance groups, horse riders, antique cars and pageant queens. The lineup includes bands and auxiliaries from Destrehan High School, Riverside Academy and area middle schools. This year the parade will welcome the return of the 610 Stompers dance troupe and first time special guests the United Cajun Navy.

The parade begins at 2 p.m. at River Road and Apple Street, travels east to Good Hope Street, travels north to Sixth Street, turns south on Apple Street and disbands at River Road.

After the parade, Santa will be available for free photos with children adjacent to the community Christmas tree on Apple Street.

This family-friendly event was a River Parishes staple that began in the 1950s and ran through the early 1980s before being discontinued. A group of local citizens, including Norco native Stephen Weber, helped revive the parade in 2001. It has rolled annually since, and serves to usher in the Christmas Season for the River Parishes and the surrounding New Orleans area.
