Only in Louisiana: See when you can catch a parade rolling through a local Walmart

One Walmart on the North Shore gets creative to celebrate the Carnival season. A Mardi Gras parade will roll right through the aisles of a Slidell store on Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Walmart Supercenter store #2665 at 167 Northshore Boulevard in Slidell will kick off the parade at 10 a.m., according to a release.

Representatives say this is not your typical parade. The store associates, who are calling themselves the Krewe of 2665, will host the annual parade for children, senior citizens and other local community members.

Associates will team-up to create grand floats utilizing items found throughout the store and will hand out beads and other throws.

Hundreds of local students and community members from across the area will come to participate in the special event.

Slidell High School and the Northshore High School Marching Band are both scheduled to join the parade lineup. A king and queen from Slidell High School will lead the parade.

This isn’t the first time a parade has rolled through a Walmart in the greater New Orleans area.

Shoppers have been surprised by second-line parades strolling through stores in the past, including this time when Saints fans celebrated a win over the Falcons in November 2018.
