Operation BBQ Relief serving meals in Hammond starting Wednesday

In the wake of Hurricane Ida, Operation BBQ Relief serves the surrounding communities, providing hot BBQ meals daily until further notice at Tangi Academy in Hammond.

Meal distribution launches on Wednesday, Sept. 1, until further notice. Lunch pickup is daily at 11 a.m., and dinner pickup will be daily at 4 p.m., available on a first come first serve basis.

The non-profit organization says if your organization, church, or school is in need of meals, please call the food hotline at 386-222-2756 (All meal orders need to be in increments of 50).  **Please note these are bulk meals and they do not supply clamshells or utensils.

All bulk meal orders need to be placed by 5 p.m. for the next day to be guaranteed. Any orders placed “day of” will be filled accordingly to capacity that is already on the books.

Tangi Academy is located at 43052 Yokum Road in Hammond.

 

Operation BBQ Relief is a non-profit founded in May 2011, and its mission continues as natural disasters including floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, and fires continue to disrupt and destroy communities. Operation BBQ Relief closely monitors impending natural disasters throughout the United States, staging and deploying assets to serve as soon as possible, usually within 24-48 hours.
