Halloween is just around the corner, which means candy will soon fly off shelves. Consumers are expected to spend about $2.6 billion on trick-or-treat candy this year, according to CandyStore.com.
According to the site, trick-or-treaters in Louisiana have a serious craving for Lemonheads. The sweet and sour candy is listed as the most popular candy in Louisiana. If Lemonheads aren’t your favorite candy, at least Candy Corn didn’t take the top spot in Louisiana, unlike in some other states.
The site says Reese’s Cups are Louisiana’s second favorite candy, and Blow Pops come in third.
Louisiana’s most popular Halloween candy also hasn’t changed with this year’s data results, according to the site.
CandyStore.com says 11 years of sales data, from 2007-2017, were used in determining the best-selling candy in each of the 50 states. Data miners broke down sales by state, looking in particular at the months leading up to Halloween.
The site also charted the top 10 Halloween candy across the country. Skittles came in first place, while Jolly Ranchers landed the 10th spot.
