Reginelli’s Pizzeria in Lakeview opened its doors once again to the community it has served for more than two decades after it was damaged by a fire back in June.
The restaurant reopened its newly renovated dining room on Saturday after a two-month closure.
In June, a fire destroyed Lakeview bar Parlay’s and caused damage to three neighboring restaurants, including smoke damage at Reginelli’s.
“More than anything I was thankful that the fire was overnight and no one was hurt,” owner Darryl Reginelli said. “Still, I couldn’t believe that restrictions were finally lifted but we were closing again.”
The restaurant said it underwent a full renovation in the October of 2019, only for the dining room to shut down in March of 2020 in complying with mandates limiting restaurants to to-go service only. In May, the pizzeria was going to re-open at the maximum 25 percent capacity, but the overnight fire caused another closure.
“If working in restaurants teaches you anything it’s that sometimes you have to roll with the punches, so that’s what we’re doing,” Reginelli said.
As he welcomes back the Lakeview community, the pizzeria owner has decided to bring back an old tradition. Reginelli’s Pizzeria’s nine locations will offer the restaurant’s popular $4 beer pitcher special from the past on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Reginelli said he’s thrilled to provide a deal that will bring his loyal guests some normalcy during unnerving times.
“We always had a strong following of regulars for our pitcher nights, and with all of the Covid-19 craziness it feels great to offer our guests a nice meal with cold beer and great company,” Reginelli said.
Reginelli’s Pizzeria has nine locations throughout New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and the North Shore.
The Lakeview location is now open for business again at 874 Harrison Avenue.
