Reveillon Dinners 2018: New brunch offerings, small plates add fresh take on holiday tradition

December kicks off the great Creole tradition of Reveillon dinners in New Orleans during the holiday season. This year, the annual holiday tradition includes some new features including brunch offerings and small plates at some participating restaurants.

At least six restaurants will be among the first to head up the new brunch offerings, which organizers call B’Reveillon.

New Orleans brunch hot spot Brennan’s is part of the pioneering group. The restaurant will offer a three-course brunch menu that includes Brennan’s oyster soup, a choice of eggs nouvelle or filet of beef roscoe and sticky toffee pudding with sparking rose as dessert. The menu also comes with brandy milk punch, as an eye opener brunch cocktail.

Other restaurants offering B’Reveillon menus include Cavan, Curio, Kingfish Kitchen & Cocktails, Sylvain and The Rib Room.

Another new feature is the addition of small plates, called Petite Reveillon. These menus can be found at Meauxbar Bistro, River 127 at The Westin Canal Place, Roux Carre and The Rib Room.

Roux Carre, a food co-op on Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard, will offer items like barbecue jerk chicken, curry chicken and stuffed chicken florentine on its Petite Reveillon menu.

More than 60 restaurants will offer foodies special prix-fixe feasts during the month-long celebration. The prix-fixe dinners include at least three courses, and menu prices range from $22 to $100.

Some new Reveillon participants for 2018 include Bar Frances, Boucherie, Café Amelie, Emeril’s New Orleans, Gabrielle’s, GW Fins, Jayne, Longway Tavern, Messina’s at The Terminal and River 127 at The Westin.

The annual holiday tradition also includes the Reveillon spin-off, Reveillon on the Rocks, where local bartenders add a spirited take with festive cocktails. More than 20 bars and restaurants will say cheers with cocktail menus beginning on Dec. 1 and continuing to at least New Year’s Eve.

Reveillon dinners are part of the 34th annual Christmas New Orleans Style, an annual collaboration between French Quarter Festivals, Inc. and the New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation (NOTMC).
