Satchmo SummerFest returns to the Old U.S. Mint

satchmo summerfestSatchmo SummerFest will head back to its longtime location at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint — formally the Old U.S. Mint — when the fest returns this August, according to a release.

Organizers say feedback from festival-goers and a review of festival outcomes sparked the decision to return to the original location. In 2016, organizers moved the event to Jackson Square to accommodate the explosion in popularity. The fest returns this summer from August 4 to August 6.

“The newly opened Jazz Museum will help us pay homage to Satchmo, plus shade tents and on-site, air-conditioned bathrooms will keep fans comfortable,” said Emily Madero, president and chief executive officer of French Quarter Festivals, Inc.

The annual three-day festival celebrates beloved New Orleans musician Louis Armstrong. The fest will feature more than 100 artists including local jazz musicians and brass bands along with seminars and food from popular restaurants. Organizers say a full schedule will be released in July.  Daily admission to the fest is $5.
