Party your fins off at this premier downtown fundraising event.
Scales and Ales will transform the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas into the popular adults-only party on Friday, Sept. 29. Organizers for the premier fundraising party dive into what party-goers can expect at the this year’s event.
The event kicks off from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. A sponsor/patron party precedes the event at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy delicious cuisine, wine, specialty cocktails and brews from more than 50 local restaurants and bars, all while experiencing the exceptional sights and sounds of the Aquarium after dark.
The event will also feature performances from 1980s cover band The Molly Ringwalds, local radio and club DJ Brice Nice and local marching krewe the Sirens of New Orleans. Guests can also enjoy a GoGo Booth, a temporary tattoo station and a virtual reality arcade.
John Fallon, assistant director for Audubon Gulf United for Lasting Fisheries (G.U.L.F.) says the event kicks off National Seafood Month and highlights the importance of sustainable seafood and the work of Audubon’s G.U.L.F. program.
“This year, because it’s all about sustainable seafood, we’re actually going to have a lot of the partners that we work with in the restaurant industry here for Scales and Ales,” Fallon said.
Proceeds from Scales and Ales will support Aquarium education and conservation programs like G.U.L.F. that empower the community through interactive learning. Since 2010, Scales & Ales has raised more than $1 million for the Aquarium’s education and conservation programs.
Established in 2012, G.U.L.F. works with the seafood supply chain, from harvesters to retailers, fishery management agencies, chefs and consumers to ensure that fisheries in our region thrive for the benefit of future generations.
Event organizers encourage the public to purchase tickets in advance, as this is a sell-out event. Attendees must be age 21 or older to purchase a ticket to this adults-only party.
Tickets are $65 for members and $75 for non-members. Patron tickets are $125 per person. Sponsor packages start at $1,000. All food and drinks are included in ticket price.
