Second-line season kicks off Sunday with Valley of Silent Men parade

Second-line fans can look forward to the official start of the 2018 – 2019 season on Sunday, Aug. 26. The Valley of Silent Men Social Aid and Pleasure Club will kick off second-line season with a parade in Central City at 3 p.m. on Sunday, according to WWOZ’s Facebook page.

The parade will begin and end at Tapps II, 2800 S. Rocheblave Street. This the Valley of Silent Men Valley of Silent Men Social Aid and Pleasure Club’s 33rd annual parade, which typically marks the start of the annual second-line season. The four-hour parade disbands at 7 p.m.

Sunday’s route begins at Tapps II with several stops along the way at 2811 Jackson Avenue, the intersection at Second Street and Dryades Street and 2802 Magnolia Street, before returning to Tapps II to disband.
