Sno-ball lovers can already look forward to the start of the 2019 sno-ball season this weekend. Hansen’s Sno-Bliz and Plum Street are among the local sno-ball stands announcing openings on Friday, March 8.

Spring doesn’t officially start until March 20. However, trading king cake season for sno-ball season doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
Hansen’s Sno-Bliz announced on Facebook its seasonal reopening of the Tchoupitoulas Street staple on Friday, March 8. The popular stand celebrates its 80th anniversary in business.
“Come join us for our Opening Day! We can’t wait to welcome you back to Tchoupitoulas Street starting tomorrow — this Friday — for our 80th anniversary season of snoballs!” the Facebook post said.
Popular Uptown sno-ball spot Plum Street Snowballs also announced its 2019 season opening on Friday, March 8 starting at 2 p.m., via Facebook.

Sno-ball lovers in Metairie already got a jump on the season.
Popular Old Metairie stand Sal’s Sno-Balls started its season in February. The stand opened initially opened on Feb. 22.

Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite neighborhood sno-ball stand listed here. Several seasonal sno-ball stands traditionally open this time of year. So, more openings may come in the upcoming weeks.
New Orleans is also home to many year-round stands. Sno-La Snoball Lounge, known for its signature cheesecake-stuffed sno-balls, has an Uptown and Metairie location. Just Chillin’ Sweet Treats is a popular year-round North Shore location.
