Sno-ball season: Plum Street, Sal’s among some local sno-ball stands opening this weekend

Sno-ball lovers can look forward to a cool treat this weekend. Some local sno-ball stands have announced openings starting as early as Friday, Feb. 23, signaling the start of sno-ball season.

Spring doesn’t officially start until March 20. However, with recent warmer temperatures around the area, standing in line for a sno-ball seems like a good idea.

Popular Uptown sno-ball spot Plum Street Snowballs opens on Friday, Feb. 23 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the stand announced via Facebook.

Sno-ball lovers in Metairie can also start standing in line this weekend.

“It’s snoball season y’all!!! Chilly’s will open at noon this coming Friday. Come get your snoball on!!!” Chilly’s Snoballs announced via a Facebook post.

Popular Old Metairie stand Sal’s Sno-Balls also wants to make sure fans know they’re ready to serve this weekend. Sal’s posted via Facebook letting folks know they will open starting on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 11 a.m.

Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite neighborhood sno-ball stand listed here. Several seasonal sno-ball stands traditionally open this time of year. So, more openings may come in the upcoming weeks.

New Orleans is also home to many year-round stands. Sno-La Snoball Lounge, known for its signature cheesecake-stuffed sno-balls, has an Uptown and Metairie location. Just Chillin’ Sweet Treats is a popular year-round North Shore location.
