We’ve barely dusted off the king cake sugar from Carnival season, but snoball lovers can already look forward to the start of the 2020 snoball season.
Hansen’s Sno-Blitz and Plum Street Snoballs are among the local sno-ball stands announcing openings on Friday, Feb. 28.

Spring doesn’t officially start until March 19, and we’re still feeling some chilly temperatures. However, trading king cake season for sno-ball season doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
Hansen’s Sno-Bliz announced on Facebook its seasonal reopening of the Tchoupitoulas Street staple from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 28. The popular stand, at 4801 Tchoupitoulas Street, celebrates its 81 years in business.

“Seasons come and seasons go, only to return again. We are pleased to announce the return of snoball season, our 81st, beginning tomorrow — Friday, February 28th, with regular hours — Open Tues-Sun 1-7 pm, Closed Mondays!” the Facebook post said.
Popular Uptown sno-ball spot Plum Street Snowballs, 300 Burdette Street, also announced its 2020 season opening on Friday, Feb. starting at 2 p.m., via Facebook.

Sno-ball lovers in Metairie can also get a jump on the season.
Popular Old Metairie stand Sal’s Sno-Balls officially starts its season on Saturday, Feb. 29. The snoball stand, at 1823 Metairie Avenue, opens from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Don’t worry if you don’t see your favorite neighborhood sno-ball stand listed here. Several seasonal sno-ball stands traditionally open this time of year. So, more openings may come in the upcoming weeks.
New Orleans is also home to many year-round stands. Sno-La Snoball Lounge, known for its signature cheesecake-stuffed sno-balls, has an Uptown and Metairie location. Just Chillin’ Sweet Treats is a popular year-round North Shore location.
