Would you get a ‘porch swing pedicure’ at this local nail salon?

Try this new Southern twist on a pedicure.

An Uptown nail salon offers a cool concept that owner Brandi Holstead hopes makes customers feel more at home.

Southern Swings Nail Bar & Spa replaces the traditional salon chair for something that’s a little more familiar — and Southern. Guests can get their pedicures indoors or outdoors while sitting in a porch swing.

“I just think porch swings are just a huge staple here, so I wanted to incorporate that into something I love so much,” Holstead said.

The Texas native said since the shop’s opening, the unique concept has attracted locals and even international tourists who have found them through social media. The Magazine Street salon mixes the rustic appeal from the owner’s hometown with the eclectic vibe of New Orleans.

“What I love the most is that everyone takes pictures when they come in because it is so different,” Holstead said.

The new salon even takes their pedicures next level by incorporating treatments typically found in upscale, five-star resorts into more affordable services.

Holstead says one of the favorites among clients is a chocolate mud mask pedicure that smells delicious.

Aside from the nail bar, the spa also includes a tanning salon, brow bar, waxing and a whiskey room that offers men’s grooming services.

Southern Swings Nail Bar & Spa opens Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
