Stunning military flyover honors healthcare workers in New Orleans: See video, photos

Thank you to our heroes on the front lines in the fight against COVID-19.

The Louisiana Air National Guard and the United States Air Force helped say thank you to area healthcare workers helping in the fight against COVID-19.

They performed a majestic joint flyover on Friday, May 1 throughout the New Orleans area to honor those who have been on the front lines of the coronavirus pandemic.

Planes came into view of wowed-medical workers and people who came out of their houses to see the once-in-a-lifetime sight.

The mini-airshow featuring B-52 bombers and F-15 jets turned into a spectacle that brought tears to thousands of healthcare workers and first responders who are continuing to risk their lives every day.

The flyover lasted about 20 minutes as the four planes flew over most hospitals around the city.

Officials with the Air Force said the flyover included two B-52 Stratofortresses assigned to the 2nd Bomb Wing and F-15 Strike Eagles from the 159th Fighter Wing based at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in New Orleans.
