Get your meal started with this simple salad that just shouts fall. Butternut squash is in season and available in grocery stores, which makes it makes perfect for this time of year. Maple syrup adds the perfect touch of sweetness. All the fall colors and flavors makes this a great holiday salad. Chef Folse says this salad also pairs well with game.
Duck & Andouille Gumbo
In New Orleans, we love our gumbo, especially for the holidays. This hearty gumbo packs in duck and smoked andouille for a great flavor. The good thing about gumbo is that you can always get creative. So feel free to substitute other items if duck and andouille aren’t your cup of tea. Make sure you get that roux right for a dark and rich gumbo. Chef Folse can help you out with that.
Simple & Delicious Holiday Yams
Most holiday yam recipes contain numerous spices and a marshmallow topping. However, Chef Folse says sometimes it’s best to just keep it simple. He also says this is one of his favorite things to make for the holidays. Here’s another quick and easy side dish to add your table. Break out the yams!
Sweet Potato-Crasin Cheesecake
It’s dessert time. Save your extra sweet potatoes to craft this creamy, guilty pleasure that’s the perfect taste of fall. Chef Folse suggests keeping as much water out of your sweet potatoes as possible. He opts for baking because it concentrates the sugar.
