The Thibodaux Firemen's Fair heats things up this spring with one of the largest, and hottest, fundraising fairs in southeast Louisiana. The free, family-friendly event brings tons of music, food and activities to the Thibodaux Fire Department Fairgrounds on Thursday, May 3 to Sunday, May 6. The four-day lineup combines a festival, a fair and a parade all into one huge event.
Here's a list of exciting things you can expect at the fair this year.
Stop, drop and let the good times roll. Here are the basics.
The Thibodaux Firemen’s Fair packs tons fun activities that everyone can enjoy at the Thibodaux Fire Department Fairgrounds, 1101 Tiger Drive, Thibodaux, La. Festivities kick off on Thursday, May 3 and continues through Sunday, May 6. Fair hours are Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event is also southeast Lousiana’s largest fundraising fair, and it helps support the Thibodeaux Volunteer Fire Department. Admission is free.
The annual Firemen's Parade is a crowd favorite.
The annual Firemen’s Parade rolls through Thibodaux, La. at 11 a.m. on Sunday, May 6 — the last day of the fair. Parade organizers say the crowd favorite is one of the longest-running parades in Louisiana. Parade-goers can watch Thibodaux’s firefighters roll through the streets on decorative floats and fire trucks. The parade route begins near St. Joseph’s Elementary School at 501 Cardinal Drive and proceeds down Menard Street, Fifth Street, and St. Mary’s Street. The parade then turns down Tiger Drive and ends at the fairgrounds. Organizers say the parade is a time for family and friends to gather and show their appreciation to members of the department who volunteer their time to protect their lives and property in times of need.
Enjoy lots of food -- including authentic carnival-style foods.
Fair organizers say they will have plenty of food options for fair guests, including the Famous Firemen’s Fair Burger. The event features authentic fair cuisine, which event organizers say is one of the huge draws for hungry crowds. Some of the options include local favorites like jambalaya, shrimp creole, gumbo, Boudin and crawfish pie. Attendees can also enjoy carnival-style foods such as funnel cakes and turkey legs.
Rides to the rescue: There's fun for all ages from family-friendly to adrenaline pumping thrill rides.
There’s really a little something for everyone. Kids — and the young at heart — can enjoy carnival rides. You can purchase pay-one-price armbands at the fair for unlimited rides per day. The wide selection of rides spans from kid-friendly to attractions for thrill seekers. Some of the attractions include bumper cars, Tilt-A-Whirl and the traditional Ferris wheel. There are also plenty of carnival games. Bracelets are available for purchase Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and are valid for the day purchased only.
