Media mogul Tyler Perry will bring his tough-talking, gun-toting character, Madea, to Louisiana one last time in 2019. The production titled “Madea’s Farewell Play Tour” will stop in three Louisiana cities: Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Shreveport.
The nationwide tour heads to the Heymann Performing Arts Center in Lafayette on March 12. The tour will stops at Raising Cane’s River Center Arena in Baton Rouge on March 13 and at Shreveport Municipal Memorial Auditorium on March 14. So far, no New Orleans dates were announced.
“Madea’s Farewell Play Tour” will star Perry playing his iconic character Mabel “Madea” Simmons, along with Tamela Mann, David Mann, and Cassi Davis Patton. The nationwide tour kicks off in Oakland, California on Jan. 19, carrying through until mid-May, where the production will cap-off its run with a four-night stint at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

In October 2018, Perry shocked fans by announcing his plans to end his most beloved character.
Along with the stage tour, Perry will also bring the family together one last time for “A Madea Family Funeral,” set to be released on March 1. This final Madea film concludes a set of 10 movies that have stared Perry as what he describes as “…exactly the PG version of my mother and my aunt,” according to Tyler Perry’s website.
The film synopsis according to IMDB says, “A joyous family reunion becomes a hilarious nightmare as Madea and the crew travel to backwoods Georgia, where they find themselves unexpectedly planning a funeral that might unveil unsavory family secrets.”
