Walk-On’s set to open first North Shore location with a rooftop bar

Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar heads to the North Shore. The Louisiana sports bar and restaurant chain is set to open its first Covington location on Monday, Sept. 25.

North Shore residents also get a bonus feature: Covington is also the first location with a rooftop bar.

The Walk-On’s team says they’re “excited to see how their fans receive the new addition,” according to a statement from the restaurant’s marketing team.

The new restaurant, located at 69796 Stirling Blvd. near Sam’s Club, will open at 11 a.m. on Monday. This will mark the opening of the 12th Walk-On’s in Louisiana.

North Shore resident and general manager Brandon Mier says he’s excited to bring the chain to this area. Mier is the son-in-law of late New Orleans Saints running back Hokie Gajan.

“I can’t tell you how proud and excited I am to introduce Walk-On’s to our city,” Mier said. “We’ve assembled an awesome crew of about 200 and we’re all looking forward to becoming an integral part of the community,” he said.

The Baton Rouge-based chain co-owned by Drew Brees is also planning some excitement for visitors during its grand opening. Walk-On’s representatives say they will give away one pair of tickets to a New Orleans Saints game to one winner on Monday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The Covington location will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight.

In May 2015, Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought into Walk-On’s Enterprises as co-owners. Brees pointed out that Walk-On’s is “a great place to bring my family, teammates and business colleagues” and that they were excited to help “expand the brand across the nation.”
