Get local boiled and live crawfish prices in the palm of your hand.
The 2020 crawfish season has kicked off early with the lowest prices in years, according to the Crawfish App.
A spokesperson for the free app that tracks crawfish prices across the nation said boiled crawfish in the Greater New Orleans area are priced as low as $3.49 per pound, while live crawfish can be found as low as $1.99 per pound.
“We do not usually see these prices until Mardi Gras gets here,” says Laney King, co-founder and operator of The Crawfish App. “The warm winter weather this year has spurred crawfish growth earlier than usual which means our Louisiana crawfish farmers have an abundant supply. That supply needs to be moved, and with the lower demand for large quantity crawfish boils in January, they are dropping prices to do so. It’s going to be an epic season for everyone involved in the crawfish industry and of course, for those who love to boil them!”
Crawfish season is officially here, which means many people will be looking for the best and cheapest crawfish from local restaurants and markets.
Well, this free app developed by LSU alumni can help make your crawfish season more enjoyable by taking out the work of calling around town. This app has quickly become an essential tool during crawfish season.
